                       PROJ.4 System for MSDOS
                           Release 4.3.3

The three principle programs of the PROJ.4 system are available as
MSDOS exe (386+87 or higher) files in the zip distribution
DOS-PJ433.zip:

proj.exe - general cartographic projection program.
geod.exe - geodesic distance/azimuth program.
nad2nad.exe - converts geographic or grid data between North
American Datum 27 and 83 as well as between SPCS and
UTM coordinate systems for United State regions.

In addition, the zip file includes init-files for State Plane
Coordinate Systems (SPCS) grids and several non-US grid systems, as
well as summary documentation of program usage. For full
documentation, the user must secure the PostScript manuals.

For NAD conversions with nad2nad, the zip files DOS_NAD1.zip and
DOS_NAD2.zip containing the NADCON tables must also be downloaded.

                           Installation

Make a disk directory for the PROJ.4 system and unzip the DOS-PJ433.zip
into this directory. Either add an entry to PATH or move the exe's
to a current PATH entry directory. Perform:

SET PROJ_LIB=<path of previously made directory>

This may be added to the AUTOEXEC.BAT (as well as PATH modification).

For NAD datum conversions, add the directory NAD2783 to the directory
pointed to by PROJ_LIB and unzip DOS_NAD1.zip and DOS_NAD2.zip files into
this directory.
